During Vinland's [[13 Colonies|Colonial Era]], Paulson DeMint served as a courier for Tenny Governor Willis. He was set to become a stablesman for the Governor, but unexpectedly quit his position and left the colony. He reappeared several years later as the [[Masters' Revolt]] gripped Tenny and [[Georgina]], and it was then he connected with Lyle Vanderville III and his burgeoning train business. Through his constant travel and tireless efforts, Paulson was able to rally the masters under the leadership of Vanderville, and it is believed his constant work within the two colonies had an influence on the early formation of [[Man's Order]].

It is at the Compound that he was able to build out a print shop in order to create regular new issues of the Pony Express News. Although the [[Lyanans]] at the Compound are owned by Overseer Vanderville, Paulson was able to convince the Overseer to grant him ownership of [[Gentle Ben]], a Lyanan who entertains the Compound's residents.
