Orphaned as a baby after the attack on the Keene residence that killed Judy Keene and subsequent execution of Martin Keene, Mark Keene grew up under the tutelage of his older brother, Governor Jeremiah Keene. Mark spent his early years in Richmond before spending his preteen and teen years predominantly in Carolina at Military Training.

After military training, it was his brother’s desire for him to become a mediator and have a role with the federal government so he enrolled in Richmond School of Law. Upon graduating at age 18, he was sent by Virginia to be a federal mediator.

Stoic and with a natural leadership skill, he grew up believing that he would be a soldier, fighting on behalf of his father’s dream of Vinland.  Jeremiah provided him with a ethos that they should use their power to protect the weak. They’ve been entrusted as the leaders of Virginia as well as Vinland, and as such, it’s their duty to protect the realm and the country.
